How to refer

Who are Oviva and what is the service?

Oviva is a CQC-regulated, DTAC-accredited NHS partner delivering Tier 3 Weight Management services.

We’ve supported over 300,000 NHS patients so far with evidence-based, digitally-enabled care – helping extend NHS capacity while improving patient outcomes.

Our consultant endocrinologist-led programme provides up to two years of structured support, combining specialist medical care, dietetic and psychological support, health coaching and weight loss medication (where appropriate).

Our clinician-led team of weight management specialists brings together endocrinologists, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and health coaches, delivering holistic care to our patients in one coordinated approach.

Access to the Oviva app continues after the programme, giving patients tools to stay on track, including:

  • Food, activity, mood and health tracking
  • Goal setting and progress monitoring
  • Educational content on nutrition, behaviour change, and physical activity

It’s quick for GPs to refer, and easy for patients to stay engaged long term.

Dr Benjamin Vere (Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust) - South East London

Oviva’s multi-disciplinary team of together dietitians, psychologists, and exercise specialists offers a truly holistic way to support patients. I’ve recently referred patients to Oviva and look forward to hearing their experiences. For many, the shorter waiting time for support has been a key motivator.

What happens after referral?

Oviva handles everything from onboarding to discharge. GPs are updated on any medication changes and can collaborate on patient care.

Patients are supported by a consultant-led multidisciplinary team:

  • Consultant endocrinologists
  • Obesity specialist dietitians and nurses
  • Psychologists and health coaches

The programme includes:

  • Up to two years of remote support
  • Personalised nutrition and lifestyle guidance from a specialist dietitian
  • Behavioural support and coaching by a clinical psychologist
  • Eligibility-based access to GLP-1 medication (e.g. Wegovy)
  • Prescriber guidance for safe, effective use of weight loss medication

We provide progress updates and medication safety monitoring, so there’s no need for regular GP check-ins.

Chantelle, Oviva patient, after Oviva's weight loss plan and Wegovy

For the first time I’ve found something that truly works. I’m eating about two thirds of what I ate before, making healthier choices and I genuinely can’t stomach a lot of rich or sweet foods now. It’s given me the boost I needed, without the extreme of surgery.
